Haihao Group perform penetrant testing to pipe spools

In normal, pipe spools are fabricated in the method of welding. Welding is very important part of pipe fabrication. To guarantee quality of pipe fabrication, Haihao Group always performs 100% NDT (Non Destructive Testing) to the welding.

We received an order of pressure vessel. According to client’s requirement, we need perform penetrant testing (PT) to the welding line. Penetrant testing includes fluorescent penetrant testing and dye penetrant testing. Our client required dye penetrant testing. It’s also called liquid penetrant testing.

Dye penetrant testing is a popular applied method used to inspect the welding of pipe spool. The main advantages are fast and low cost. The main steps are Pre-cleaning, Application of Penetrant, Excess Penetrant Removal, Application of Developer, Inspection, Post Cleaning.

The reference standard of penetrant testing is ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section V, Art. 6 and Art. 24.
