9396m sets the record for the deepest horizontal well in Asia

On March 9, the drilling of Gole 3C well, located in Fuman Oilfield in the hinterland of Taklimakan Desert, was successfully completed, breaking the record of the deepest horizontal well in Asia with a depth of 9396 meters, marking that the ultra-deep oil and gas drilling capacity of Tarim Oilfield has officially entered a new stage of 9000 meters and has the conditions to march to 10000 meters.

Gole 3C well is an ultra-deep sidetracking horizontal well deployed in Fuman Oilfield, which is drilled by the BHZ90005 drilling crew of Bohai Drilling Company. The well is located in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert, which is rarely visited. The underground geological structure is extremely complex. The buried depth of the reservoir is generally more than 8000 meters. It is extremely difficult to recognize the geology and the reservoir. It has the characteristics of ultra-deep, ultra-high temperature and ultra-high pressure, which are rare in the world. The successful drilling of this well proves that China’s deep oil and gas geological theory and drilling engineering technology have entered the forefront of the world, effectively promoting the development and progress of technology, equipment and industry in the domestic deep field, and providing important technical reserves for the Tarim Oilfield to enter the ultra-deep layer of 10000 meters.
